  1. It did cross my mind! Also unclear to me is where exactly Mad stands on this—are they more making fun of the (relatively recent anyway, as you say) business that crumbles when the culture shifts, or of the fickle culture? But maybe it’s not exactly Mad’s style to have a position or a message at all, they’re just trying to make whatever humor they can with whatever opportunities the times present.
